Jenna GF Liew (8 years old in 2021) is a Year 4 student at The British International School Kuala Lumpur (BSKL), Malaysia.
At a tender age of 4, she visited Kemaman, Terengganu where she first experienced releasing turtle hatchlings into the sea. Jenna was fascinated watching the mother turtles lay their eggs at the beach each evening.
With guidance from Dr. Pelf of Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia (TCS), Jenna’s fascination grew into a passion. A passion to save these endangered Malaysian turtles from extinction. She is hopeful her paintings will bring attention to their plight and raise funds to continue the conservation efforts of these endangered turtles.
Ethan Hong, also a Year 4 student at BSKL, had a wondrous experience of swimming with sea turtles during a family getaway at Terengganu and has always been an avid learner in sea creatures and its conservation.
Thanks to his dear friend Jenna Liew’s initiative, Ethan designed a key chain to raise awareness on turtle conservation. These key chains are made from up-cycled plastics. He is honoured to have had the opportunity to participate in such a meaningful cause.
